## About Arêches-Beaufort

Arêches-Beaufort is in the Beaufortain, the range between the Tarentaise and Mont Blanc that most ski traffic drives past, and it has stayed a working village: Beaufort cheese comes from here and the dairy cooperative is a real business, not a gift shop.

The resort is small, but the valley is one of the great ski touring destinations in France, and the Pierra Menta race held here every March is one of the hardest ski mountaineering events in the world.

## Where lessons start

A calm, unpretentious place to learn, with the village right there. If anyone in the group is curious about ski touring, this is the valley to ask about it in.

## Getting there

Albertville is around 30 minutes up the Beaufortain valley.

## Instructors at Arêches-Beaufort

## Qualifications required in France

## Frequently asked questions

### Is Arêches-Beaufort a good place to try ski touring?

One of the best in France. The Beaufortain is a great touring valley and hosts the Pierra Menta race every March, so local instructors and guides know the terrain intimately. The resort itself is small and calm, which also makes it an unpretentious place to learn on-piste.
