## About Caviahue

Caviahue is the only resort in Argentina where you ski through araucaria forest — the monkey puzzle trees that are sacred to the Mapuche and can live over a thousand years. The slopes are on the flank of the Copahue volcano, still active.

The neighbouring village of Copahue has thermal springs fed by the same volcanic system, which after a cold day is the obvious plan.

Small and quiet, and the trees make it far more comfortable in flat light than the open Andean bowls. Volcanic activity can affect access, so a local instructor is genuinely useful.
