## About Feldberg

The Feldberg is the highest point of the Black Forest at 1,493 m and the largest ski area outside the German Alps. It also has a serious claim to being where skiing in Germany began: the first German ski club was founded near here in 1891.

The terrain is gentle and largely open at the top, wooded below, and it is the closest real skiing for Freiburg, Basel and much of the Upper Rhine.

## Where lessons start

Gentle and well equipped for learning, with a long teaching tradition. A good first-day choice for anyone in the south-west without the drive to the Alps.

## Getting there

Freiburg is around 45 minutes, Basel about an hour and a quarter. There is a railway station at Feldberg-Bärental.
