## About Fuentes de Invierno

Fuentes de Invierno is the newest of the Asturian resorts, opened on the northern side of the same ridge that San Isidro climbs from León. Being north-facing, it holds cold snow well; being Asturian, it also gets the full weight of the Atlantic weather, for better and worse.

It is compact and modern, and it is often skied together with San Isidro over a long weekend.

## Where lessons start

Modern lifts and a tidy layout make it straightforward for a first day. Check the forecast rather than the calendar: this side of the range decides the day more than the month does.

## Getting there

Oviedo is around an hour and a quarter, up through the Aller valley.

## Instructors at Fuentes de Invierno

_No instructors have joined here yet._

## Qualifications required in Spain

Teaching for payment in Spain requires the Técnico Deportivo en Deportes de Invierno (TD1/TD2/TD3), issued by Ministerio de Educación / comunidad autónoma.

## Frequently asked questions

### Fuentes de Invierno or San Isidro?

Fuentes de Invierno is smaller, more modern and north-facing, so it holds cold snow well and is easy to read on a first day; San Isidro, over the ridge, is bigger and more varied. They are separate resorts on opposite sides of the pass with separate tickets, which is why most people ski both over a long weekend. Oviedo is about an hour and a quarter to Fuentes, up the Aller valley.
