## About Karpacz

Karpacz is the eastern of the two resort towns of the Polish Giant Mountains, spread up the slope below Śnieżka (1,603 m), the highest peak of the Sudetes, on the Czech border. It is a busy year-round town, best known outside winter for Wang, a medieval Norwegian stave church rebuilt here in the 1840s.

The main ski area, Karpacz Ski Arena, rises above town to Kopa and the Złotówka meadow, inside the Karkonosze National Park. Its spine is a four-seat chair, 2.2 km long with about 530 m of vertical, alongside an old double chair and drag lifts; the black run from the top is the longest in town. In the centre, Biały Jar is a separate, compact hill with a covered six-seat chair and wide, gentle slopes.

## Where lessons start

Biały Jar is the beginner hill: short, wide, in the middle of town, with a fast covered chair. The lower slopes of Karpacz Ski Arena have practice lifts too; the black run from Kopa is natural snow and often bumpy, so it is for later.

## Getting there

Wrocław is about two hours by road and Jelenia Góra about 25 minutes. Since 2025 trains run again from Jelenia Góra to Karpacz, so the town can be reached by rail with one change.
