## About Les Menuires

Les Menuires is the value entry into the Trois Vallées. It sits in the Belleville valley below Val Thorens, and while it will never win a beauty contest against Courchevel, it puts the same 600 km of linked pistes on the doorstep for noticeably less money.

The layout is relentlessly practical: most accommodation is genuinely ski-in ski-out, and the lifts leave from where you sleep. Much of the original 1960s concrete has been rebuilt in wood and stone over the last two decades.

## Where lessons start

Good beginner terrain around the base areas, and being able to walk out of the door onto snow saves a family a lot of friction on day one. The Reberty and Preyerand sectors are the calmer places to learn.

## Getting there

Chambéry around two hours, Geneva three, or the train to Moûtiers and a bus up the Belleville valley.

## Instructors at Les Menuires

_No instructors have joined here yet._

## Qualifications required in France

Teaching for payment in France requires the Professional card (diplôme d'État de ski), issued by Ministère des Sports.

## Frequently asked questions

### Is Les Menuires the cheapest way to ski the Trois Vallées?

One of the cheapest, and the most practical. It shares the same 600 km of linked pistes as Courchevel and Val Thorens for noticeably less money, and most accommodation is genuinely ski-in ski-out. Orelle, in the fourth valley, is cheaper still but has almost nothing at the base.

### Where is the best place to learn in Les Menuires?

The calmer sectors are Reberty and Preyerand, with beginner terrain right by the base areas. Being able to walk out of the door onto snow saves a family a lot of friction on day one, and the whole Trois Vallées is there to grow into.
