## About Manganui

Manganui is on the flank of Mt Taranaki, the near-perfect volcanic cone that stands alone above the Taranaki plain — so symmetrical that it stood in for Mount Fuji in *The Last Samurai*.

The field is in a gully, served by rope tows, and reached by a walk of around twenty minutes from the car park. The season is short and entirely weather-dependent, but skiing a lone volcano with the Tasman Sea in view is not an ordinary day.
