## About Manzaneda

Manzaneda is the only alpine ski resort in Galicia, on the Cabeza Grande de Manzaneda in the mountains of Ourense. In a region better known for rain, green valleys and the Atlantic, a functioning ski station is a genuine surprise.

It is modest and its season depends heavily on the weather, but it is a proper resort with lifts, runs and a base, and for Galicians it is the difference between a day trip and a long drive to León.

## Where lessons start

Fine for a first day, and unbeatable if you are in Galicia. Check conditions before travelling: at this latitude and altitude the season is short and irregular.

## Getting there

Ourense is around an hour and a half, Santiago about two and a half. The access road climbs from Pobra de Trives.

## Instructors at Manzaneda

_No instructors have joined here yet._

## Qualifications required in Spain

Teaching for payment in Spain requires the Técnico Deportivo en Deportes de Invierno (TD1/TD2/TD3), issued by Ministerio de Educación / comunidad autónoma.

## Frequently asked questions

### When can you ski at Manzaneda?

Only when the weather cooperates. The summit is under 1,800 m and the Atlantic is close, so the season is short and irregular — usually January to early March, with closures in between when it rains. Check the resort's report before driving, Ourense being an hour and a half away, and ask your instructor to confirm the day's conditions; for Galicians it is still the difference between a day trip and a long drive to León.
