## About Masella

Masella is the north-facing half of Alp 2500, the linked area it forms with La Molina, and that orientation is the whole point: the same snow lasts longer here than on the sunnier side, and the runs down through the pine forest hold their condition well into the afternoon.

It also runs one of the longest night-skiing programmes in the Pyrenees, which for anyone based in Barcelona turns a Friday into a ski day rather than a drive.

## Where lessons start

The learning area sits by the base, and the tree-lined runs make bad-light days far more workable than on an open bowl. With the joint Alp 2500 ticket you can learn here and cross to La Molina, which has the older and larger beginner setup.

## Getting there

Barcelona is around 90 minutes by the C-16 and the Cadí tunnel. The nearest railway station is La Molina, on the Barcelona–Puigcerdà line, with a shuttle across.

## Qualifications required in Spain

Teaching for payment in Spain requires the Técnico Deportivo en Deportes de Invierno (TD1/TD2/TD3), issued by Ministerio de Educación / comunidad autónoma.

## Frequently asked questions

### Can you ski at night at Masella?

Yes. Masella runs one of the longest night-skiing programmes in the Pyrenees, on selected evenings through the season with a separate evening ticket. For anyone based in Barcelona it turns a Friday into a ski day rather than a drive, and an evening lesson on the floodlit runs is a real option. Check the night-skiing calendar before booking, because not every evening is on.

### Does a Masella pass work at La Molina?

Only the joint Alp 2500 ticket does; Masella's own pass covers Masella alone. The two resorts are linked on snow over the Tosa d'Alp, so with the joint ticket you can learn on Masella's sheltered north-facing side and cross to La Molina's older and larger beginner setup. Agree the side with your instructor beforehand: the link runs high on the mountain and is not a first-morning outing.
