## About Morzine

Morzine is a working town rather than a resort, and that is the point: it has a market, a main street, people who live there year-round, and a slate-roofed centre that predates skiing by centuries.

It sits at the junction of the Portes du Soleil, with lifts towards Les Gets on one side and Avoriaz on the other, which makes it the most flexible base in the area. The trade-off is altitude: at 1,000 m the village-level snow is not guaranteed.

## Where lessons start

Plenty of gentle terrain on the Pléney side, and the town means non-skiers have somewhere to be. In a warm winter, ask about heading up to Avoriaz for the lesson instead.
