## About Piancavallo

Piancavallo sits on a balcony above the Friuli plain, and on a clear day you can see the Adriatic from the pistes. It was the first resort in Italy to install artificial snowmaking, in the 1970s, which given its modest altitude was less a luxury than a condition of existing.

It is the nearest snow for Venice, Treviso and Pordenone.

## Where lessons start

Reliable prepared snow and gentle terrain, close enough to the Veneto cities that a lesson fits into a day.

## Getting there

Venice is around an hour and a half, Pordenone about 40 minutes.

## Instructors at Piancavallo

_No instructors have joined here yet._

## Qualifications required in Italy

Teaching for payment in Italy requires the Maestro di sci, registered in the regional albo, issued by Collegio regionale dei maestri di sci.

## Frequently asked questions

### Is Piancavallo a good first day on skis from Venice?

It is the nearest snow to Venice, Treviso and Pordenone, around an hour and a half from Venice, and it is set up for exactly that. The terrain is gentle and the snowmaking extensive — it was the first resort in Italy to install it, back in the 1970s — so a booked lesson rarely falls through for lack of snow. On a clear day you can see the Adriatic from the pistes.
