## About Samoëns

Samoëns is one of the few genuinely historic villages with access to a major French ski area. Its masons were famous across Europe from the Middle Ages — the *frahans* carved stone as far away as Poland — and the village centre, with its lime tree planted in 1438 and its listed square, is protected.

A gondola from the edge of the village climbs into the 265 km Grand Massif.

## Where lessons start

The village is at 700 m, so learning happens up at Samoëns 1600 rather than at the bottom. Worth knowing when planning the morning with children.

## Getting there

Geneva is about an hour, the shortest transfer of the Grand Massif villages.

## Instructors at Samoëns

_No instructors have joined here yet._

## Qualifications required in France

Teaching for payment in France requires the Professional card (diplôme d'État de ski), issued by Ministère des Sports.

## Frequently asked questions

### Where do lessons happen in Samoëns?

Up at Samoëns 1600, not in the village. The historic centre sits at 700 m and a gondola from its edge climbs into the 265 km Grand Massif, so the morning with children starts with that ride. Geneva is about an hour away, the shortest transfer of the Grand Massif villages.
