## About Slavske

Slavske, in the Stryi district of Lviv Oblast, is where skiing in the Ukrainian Carpathians began: a ski base and a jump opened on Trostian in 1908, and between the wars the village was one of the most popular ski destinations in the region. It sits in a valley ringed by ski hills, each with its own lifts and its own operator, and it is still the classic weekend trip from Lviv.

Trostian (1,232 m) is the main mountain. Its first drag lifts date from 1968 and its chairlift from 1976; it belongs to the Dynamo sports society and has long been a training base for the national team. A chairlift of about 2.75 km and several drag lifts serve about 12 km of runs between 682 and 1,232 m. The snow depends on the weather and on Trostian's own microclimate: in 2025/26 the first lifts turned on 23 November, and the central area opened on 2 January. Pohar, closer to the village, has beginner lifts at its foot and snowmaking.

## Where lessons start

Trostian has a beginners' area at the bottom, with a baby drag lift, where instructors take first lessons; Pohar also has beginner lifts at its foot, with snowmaking. The long runs from the top of the Trostian chairlift are for once you can turn and stop with confidence.

## Getting there

Slavske has its own railway station, about 3 km from the Trostian chairlift, on the line from Lviv to Zakarpattia; in the 2025/26 holidays the Lviv–Chop train stopped there. By road Lviv is about 140 km away.
