## About Val di Fiemme

Val di Fiemme is the nordic heartland of Italy. The trails at Lago di Tesero have hosted the Nordic World Ski Championships repeatedly, and the valley's cross-country network is among the best in Europe.

The alpine skiing is spread over Alpe Cermis above Cavalese and the Ski Center Latemar at Predazzo and Pampeago, all on the Dolomiti Superski pass — broad, well-groomed and firmly family-shaped.

## Where lessons start

Excellent for a first alpine week, and the obvious place in Italy to try cross-country properly — with an instructor, on trails that have hosted world championships.

## Getting there

Verona is around two hours, Bolzano about 50 minutes.

## Instructors at Val di Fiemme

## Qualifications required in Italy

Teaching for payment in Italy requires the Maestro di sci, registered in the regional albo, issued by Collegio regionale dei maestri di sci.

## Frequently asked questions

### Where is the alpine skiing in Val di Fiemme?

Two areas: Alpe Cermis, reached by cable car from Cavalese, and the Ski Center Latemar between Predazzo and Pampeago, both on the Dolomiti Superski pass. They are broad, well groomed and family-shaped, and they are a short drive or bus ride apart rather than linked on snow, so agree with your instructor which one you are meeting at.

### Can I learn cross-country skiing in Val di Fiemme?

This is the obvious place in Italy to do it. The trails at Lago di Tesero have hosted the Nordic World Ski Championships several times, and the valley's network is among the best in Europe, with plenty of easy loops for a first lesson. An instructor will sort out classic versus skating technique and the hire kit on the day.
