## About Valfréjus

Valfréjus is small, north-facing and heavily forested, which is an unusual combination in the Maurienne and a very useful one: the snow keeps its quality, and the trees give definition when the weather closes in.

It sits directly above Modane, on the road and rail line to Italy through the Fréjus tunnel, which makes it one of the easiest French resorts to reach from Turin.

## Where lessons start

Quiet, wooded and forgiving. One of the better small resorts in the Maurienne for a first week, and the tree cover makes bad-weather days workable.

## Getting there

Modane is 10 minutes below and has a station on the Paris–Turin line; Turin is about an hour and a half through the Fréjus tunnel.

## Instructors at Valfréjus

## Qualifications required in France

Teaching for payment in France requires the Professional card (diplôme d'État de ski), issued by Ministère des Sports.
