## About Valloire

Valloire sits below the Col du Galibier, one of the most famous climbs in cycling, and unlike most Maurienne resorts it kept a real village: a baroque church, old streets and a life that does not stop when the lifts do.

It shares the Galibier-Thabor area with neighbouring Valmeinier, around 150 km of mostly intermediate pistes across two facing sides.

## Where lessons start

Beginner terrain at village level and a mountain that rewards progression without ever getting frightening. Good value compared with the Tarentaise an hour north.

## Getting there

Saint-Michel-de-Maurienne is 15 minutes and has a station on the Paris–Turin line; Chambéry is about an hour and a half.
