## About Vars

Vars shares the Forêt Blanche area with neighbouring Risoul — around 180 km on one ticket — in the sunny southern Alps above the Guillestre valley.

It is also where the speed-skiing world records are set: the Chabrières track is the fastest in the world, and speeds above 250 km/h have been recorded on it. You can watch, from a safe distance.

## Where lessons start

Plenty of sunny, gentle terrain for a first week, and much better value than the Tarentaise. Spring snow softens early on these south-facing slopes — morning lessons are worth more than afternoon ones.

## Getting there

Turin is around two hours, Marseille and Grenoble about three.

## Instructors at Vars

_No instructors have joined here yet._

## Qualifications required in France

Teaching for payment in France requires the Professional card (diplôme d'État de ski), issued by Ministère des Sports.

## Frequently asked questions

### What does the Vars lift pass include?

The Forêt Blanche, shared with Risoul: around 180 km on one ticket, in the sunny southern Alps above the Guillestre valley. Risoul is the wooded, family half; Vars has sunny beginner terrain and the Chabrières speed-skiing track.

### When is the best time of day for a lesson in Vars?

In the morning, especially in spring. These south-facing slopes get a lot of sun and the snow softens early in the day, so a morning lesson is worth more than an afternoon one in March. Earlier in the season it matters much less.
