## About Wisła

Wisła is a holiday town in the Silesian Beskids named after the river: the Vistula rises on Barania Góra just above it. It is also the home town of Adam Małysz, Poland's most famous ski jumper, and the jump that bears his name in Malinka hosts the ski-jumping World Cup.

The alpine skiing is a scatter of small, separate hills around the town rather than one area. Soszów and Cieńków are the biggest, each with around 5–6 km of runs and a chairlift; Nowa Osada is close to the centre and lit late into the evening; Skolnity has a chairlift above the valley. None of them is long, but together they make Wisła a relaxed, family-sized base.

## Where lessons start

Nowa Osada, near the centre, is the easiest place for a first lesson, with short lifts and evening hours; Soszów and Cieńków give longer, gentle runs for the days after. The hills are a short drive apart, so agree with your instructor which one to meet at.

## Getting there

Katowice is about an hour and a half by road and Kraków about two hours. Wisła has its own railway stations, with regional trains from Katowice.

## Frequently asked questions

### Is Wisła one ski area?

No. Wisła's skiing is spread over several small, independent hills — Soszów, Cieńków, Nowa Osada and Skolnity are the main ones — each with its own lifts. That suits families and beginners well, but if you want long runs and one big linked area, Szczyrk is about half an hour away.
