About Boí Taüll
Boí Taüll is the highest resort in the Catalan Pyrenees, and that altitude is its whole argument: it holds snow when the lower Cerdanya resorts are struggling, and its season runs longer at both ends.
Below it, the Vall de Boí holds the greatest concentration of Romanesque churches in Europe — a UNESCO World Heritage site — and the Caldes de Boí hot springs. Few ski trips come with that as the rest day.

Getting there
Barcelona is around three and a half hours, Lleida about two and a half. The road up the Vall de Boí is the only way in and climbs a long way.
Qualifications required in Spain
Teaching skiing or snowboarding for payment in Spain is a regulated profession: an instructor must hold the Técnico Deportivo en Deportes de Invierno (TD1/TD2/TD3). Why does Boí Taüll have the most reliable snow in the Catalan Pyrenees?
Altitude. The whole ski area sits above 2,000 m and the top lifts reach around 2,750 m, the highest lift-served skiing in Catalonia. That keeps the learning slopes in condition into spring, when the lower Cerdanya resorts are turning to grass, and stretches the season at both ends. The price is exposure: it is open, high terrain, and sunny more often than sheltered.
Is Boí Taüll worth a weekend from Barcelona?
Honestly, it works better as a full week. Barcelona is around three and a half hours, Lleida about two and a half, and the road up the Vall de Boí is the only way in. Once there, the reward is high, open terrain with a proper beginner area, plus the Romanesque churches and the Caldes de Boí hot springs for the rest day. For a weekend from the city, the Cerdanya resorts are the easier call.
