Both are purpose-built, ski-in ski-out bases on the Val di Sole side of the Campiglio area, and the difference is small: Folgarida is the slightly larger village, Marilleva 1400 the more compact and higher one with the apartments closest to the snow. With small children the deciding factor is walking distance to the learning slopes, so pick the accommodation, not the village. The full 150 km are on the ticket either way.

Folgarida and Marilleva are two purpose-built bases on the Val di Sole side of the Campiglio area, and their job is access: lifts from the door, the full 150 km on the ticket, and prices well below Madonna di Campiglio over the ridge.

They are functional rather than charming, and squarely aimed at families who want to walk out onto snow.

Convenience is the point: the learning slopes are under the apartments, which with children removes the worst friction of the morning.

Getting there

Verona is around two hours; the Val di Sole has a narrow-gauge railway from Trento.

Qualifications required in Italy

Teaching skiing or snowboarding for payment in Italy is a regulated profession: an instructor must hold the Maestro di sci, registered in the regional albo.
