About Orcières Merlette 1850
Orcières-Merlette sits at 1,850 m on the edge of the Écrins national park, in the Champsaur valley — southern Alps territory, which means sunshine and a good deal less traffic than anywhere north of Grenoble.
It is a purpose-built base with a proper village below it, and the setting against the Écrins peaks is the main reason to make the drive.
