About Plai
Plai stands above the village of Plavie, in the Stryi district of Lviv Oblast, in the Eastern Beskids. It began in 2006 with its first lift and ran its first season in 2006/07; today it has about 7 km of runs on three lifts, a chairlift and drag lifts, between 792 and 1,060 m. Its own website spells the name Play.
It is small but well run, with snowmaking and a long season for its height: in 2025/26 it opened on 27 December and was the last resort in Ukraine to close, on 5 April, after a hundred days. There is evening skiing on an afternoon pass, and the resort's own school sells lessons with the lift pass included.

Where lessons start
First lessons use a 400 m drag lift reserved for beginners and the learning slopes beside it, and small children have a multilift, a baby lift and a children's area of their own. In 2025/26 the resort's school charged 1,450 hryvnias an hour, lift pass included, from 19 December to 30 March.
Getting there
Plavie has no railway station of its own: the nearest are Lavochne, about 16 km away, Tukhlia (20 km) and Slavske (26 km), on the line from Lviv. By road Plai is about 135 km from Lviv and 100 km from Mukachevo.
Qualifications required in Ukraine
Ukraine has no state teaching licence. The professional standard is the Ski or snowboard instructor certificate (інструктор), and Alpine Pal shows what each instructor actually holds so you can judge it for yourself.

Yes. Plai sells an afternoon pass that runs into the evening; in 2025/26 it cost 800 hryvnias. Check the hours on the day, because the lifts stop during an air-raid alert for the region.
