About Winterberg
Winterberg is the closest real skiing to the Ruhr, Cologne and Düsseldorf, and on a cold weekend it carries the traffic that implies. The Sauerland hills are low, so the resort runs on comprehensive snowmaking and a lot of floodlit night skiing.
It is also a serious winter sports town beyond the pistes: the bobsleigh and luge track here hosts World Cup rounds.
