About Gérardmer
Gérardmer sits on its own lake in the Vosges, and it has been in the tourism business longer than anywhere else in the country — its tourist office, founded in 1875, is the oldest in France.
The skiing is through forest on the slopes above the town, modest in scale and entirely dependent on cold weather, but the town itself is a proper destination.

Qualifications required in France
Teaching skiing or snowboarding for payment in France is a regulated profession: an instructor must hold the Professional card (diplôme d'État de ski). Instructors listed as certified on Alpine Pal have either sent theirs to us for review or are vouched for by the ski school that invited them.
