About La Hoya
La Hoya sits above Esquel in Chubut, and being in the southern hemisphere its north-facing bowl is the shaded one — which is why it holds cold powder for days after a storm while sunnier resorts have gone heavy.
It is a long way south of the Bariloche circuit, far cheaper, and largely unknown outside Argentina. Skiers who make the trip tend to become evangelists about it.
