About La Toussuire

La Toussuire sits in a wide sunny bowl on the Sybelles side of the Maurienne, and the shape of it is the appeal: open, gently angled terrain where a family can spread out and still see each other.

It is part of the 300 km Les Sybelles link, so the area is far bigger than the resort.

Where lessons start

The open bowl gives plenty of room for a first lesson, with the usual treeless caveat on a flat-light day.

Getting there

Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne is around 30 minutes, on the Paris–Turin railway.

Qualifications required in France

Teaching skiing or snowboarding for payment in France is a regulated profession: an instructor must hold the Professional card (diplôme d'État de ski). Instructors listed as certified on Alpine Pal have either sent theirs to us for review or are vouched for by the ski school that invited them.

La Toussuire: common questions

Is La Toussuire good for families?

Yes — the shape of the bowl is the point. Open, gently angled terrain where a family can spread out and still see each other, with the 300 km Les Sybelles link for anyone who wants more. The one caveat is flat light: with no trees, a grey day is harder to read.
