Las Heras, Mendoza
About Penitentes
Penitentes sits on the international road between Mendoza and Chile, in the shadow of Aconcagua — at 6,961 m the highest mountain in the Americas, and visible from the resort road.
The terrain is high, dry and wide open, in the arid central Andes where the air is thin and the snow, when it comes, is very light.

Does the altitude at Penitentes affect a lesson?
It can. Penitentes sits high in the arid central Andes on the road to Aconcagua, and coming up from Mendoza, around three hours away, in a single morning leaves many people short of breath faster than they expect. Tell your instructor when you arrived so the first lesson is paced for it. The reward is wide-open terrain and very light, dry snow when it comes.
