About Pra Loup
Pra Loup sits above Barcelonnette in the Ubaye valley, one of the sunniest corners of the French Alps — the linked area it forms with Le Sauze is called the Espace Lumière, and for once the name is descriptive rather than promotional.
The Ubaye is remote enough that it never fills, and the valley has an odd Mexican architectural legacy from nineteenth-century emigrants who came back rich.

Where lessons start
Sunny, wide and quiet, with good learning terrain by the base. Spring snow goes soft early here — plan lessons for the morning.
Getting there
Nice is around three hours, Marseille about three and a half. The Ubaye is a long way from anywhere, which is why it is quiet.
Qualifications required in France
Teaching skiing or snowboarding for payment in France is a regulated profession: an instructor must hold the Professional card (diplôme d'État de ski). Instructors listed as certified on Alpine Pal have either sent theirs to us for review or are vouched for by the ski school that invited them.
