About The Remarkables
The Remarkables is the mountain range that fills the view from Queenstown — a wall of serrated peaks that got its name from a nineteenth-century surveyor and kept it because nobody could improve on it.
The ski area sits in a high basin on its western side, which is the key to it: the bowl shape makes it the most sheltered of the Queenstown fields when the wind gets up, and it holds the best beginner terrain of the four. Above the learning slopes there are genuinely serious chutes for those who want them.
It is a 45-minute drive from Queenstown, which is close enough to make a day trip from the town entirely normal.
