About Valmeinier
Valmeinier is the higher, quieter half of the Galibier-Thabor link. The modern base at Valmeinier 1800 sits well above the old village and holds snow better than the Valloire side, while the whole 150 km area is on one ticket.
It is squarely a family resort: apartment blocks close to the lifts, gentle terrain and no nightlife to speak of.

Where lessons start
Convenient and calm, with the learning slopes right by the accommodation at 1800. The altitude means they stay in condition later in the season than Valloire's.

Valmeinier or Valloire for a family?
Valmeinier 1800 if snow and convenience matter most: it sits higher, keeps its snow later in the season, and the learning slopes are right by the apartments. Valloire if you want a real village with life in the evening. Both share the 150 km Galibier-Thabor pass, so you can ski across either way.
