About Tavascan

Tavascan is at the end of the Cardós valley, one of the most remote inhabited corners of the Catalan Pyrenees, and it is genuinely small: a short alpine sector and a nordic circuit, run at a scale that has more in common with a village club than with a resort.

That is exactly why people who know it come back. There is no queue, no through traffic and no development, and the valley itself is beautiful.

I love the mountains and really enjoy teaching children to ski. My approach is entirely hands-on and tailored to them: we learn by playing and enjoying the snow right from the very start. I make sure they feel comfortable, safe and keen to come back the next day.

Where lessons start

Both disciplines in one place, which is unusual at this size: the nordic circuit is a real option for anyone who would rather learn to move across the snow than down it. Check opening before travelling — a small resort with a long access road does not run every day of the season.

Getting there

Around four hours from Barcelona, and the last stretch up the Cardós valley is slow. It is the kind of place you go to for several days, not for an afternoon.

Qualifications required in Spain

Teaching skiing or snowboarding for payment in Spain is a regulated profession: an instructor must hold the Técnico Deportivo en Deportes de Invierno (TD1/TD2/TD3). Instructors listed as certified on Alpine Pal have either sent theirs to us for review or are vouched for by the ski school that invited them.

Tavascan: common questions

Can you learn cross-country skiing at Tavascan?

Yes. Tavascan has both a short alpine sector and a nordic circuit, which is unusual at this size, and the nordic side is a real option for anyone who would rather learn to move across the snow than down it. Say which discipline you want when booking, since not every instructor teaches both. And check opening before travelling: a small resort with a long access road does not run every day of the season.
